Room 4 is a class at the Base School in Kea Street, which caters for very high needs students. There are six students in our class. The staff consists of a specialist teacher and three teacher aides.
Room 4 provides a specialist teaching programme based on Individual Education Plans.
The staff ratio is four staff to six students.
Communication needs are a priority in our classroom.
The classroom has two computers, a touch screen, a Smartboard and two iPads.
Student interests and individual needs are taken into account when planning the learning programme.
Our class programme is based on a multi-sensory approach to learning.
Students receive regular physiotherapy with a physiotherapist.
Students have access to Occupational, Speech and Orientation and Mobility therapy.
Music is a big part of our programme and we have two Music Specialist Staff who provide stimulating and highly motivating Music and Movement opportunities for our students.
Students participate in community activities e.g. library, Museum, Government Gardens, Tree Trust and places of interest.
