Ruma 18 Malfroy Satellite
Tena Koutou
Room 18, at Malfroy School, is made up of a dynamic group of 7 akongna ranging in ages between 6 and 10 years old. Akongna work alongside passionate Kaiawhina Sam, Raewyn and Stacy, as well as their Kaiako Sylvia. Akongna also receive additional support from our experienced Team of Specialists: Mandana (Speech andLanguageTherapist); Pearl (Occupational Therapist), Ann(Physiotherapist) and David (Psychologist). This year our learning is based around the revised curriculum: Aotearua New Zealand Histories. In Ruma 18 we embrace the concept of Manaakitanga (a caring, nurturing, family-like environment with warmth, trust and aroha). We also believe in the importance of Whanaungatanga (developing strong, meaningful and authentic relationships with children and their families and whanau). With this in mind, this term our is learning is about who we are and where we come from and working on our pepeha. Our weekly program is based around Individual Education Plans (I.E.Ps) which is derived through consultation between Kaiako, Therapists and Whanau. Our daily learning activities are set around learning goals to meet the I.E.Ps. This term we are also fortunate to be able to attend RDA weekly. We look forward to a fun – filled year of learning.
