News from Western Heights Primary

Kia Ora and Welcome to Room 7    Term 1 2020 

 

We are a satellite class situated at Western Heights Primary School. 

 

The Teacher is Kathy Scott  

The Teacher Aides are Maureen, Gina and Sam. 

The Students are Thomas Barber, Harrison Barber, Taimarino Pou, Tukino Kingi-Pewhairangi, Vikram Gujjar-Singh, Matthew Warren and our new student this year Roni Baird, 6 boys and 1 girl.     

 

Our daily programme consists of Literacy and Numeracy based activities based on our Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to achieve our individual set goals.  We also participate in weekly activities with the mainstream students at WHPS, for maths, PE, Kapa Haka, sports days, fun days, and Assembly. 

Every week we have a visit from Aiden, Teacher of Te Reo and Jono, Teacher of Music.    

 

This year our overall theme is Our People, Our Place Tangata Whenua, Whenuatanga, looking at different key competencies each term such as, Term 1, Tangata Whenua, Belonging, Term 2, Hauora, Our Community, Term 3 Kaitiaki, Caretakers of earth and Term 4, Te Tau ao, Our Environment. These key competencies are interlinking into the weekly and termly programme to enrich and enhance the learning programme throughout the year. 

 

In Room 7 we enjoy weekly community integration of Swimming at the Aquatic Centre, M.I.Gs, gymnastics with Jo, RDA in Ngongotaha, and we are part of the community at the Local Town Library.
