Welcome to Room 21 - Kaitao Intermediate Satellite Class

We are a class of 8 amazing students, all of whom have their own unique strengths, and also areas of need.

We enjoy a balance of learning opportunities both in and outside of the classroom, and we are also fortunate to be able to participate in activities at both Rotorua Specialist School, as well as those offered by Kaitao Intermediate.  In the classroom, in addition to literacy and numeracy focused lessons, we also integrate the speaking of Te Reo, employ Play Based Learning strategies with Lego, enjoy cooking and art, as well as other exciting and varied activities. Outside of the classroom environment, our learning experiences are equally varied. These include fitness sessions with the senior classes from base school, gym sessions with Jo from MIGS Gym, walks in The Redwoods and building our confidence in the water by visiting the Aquatic Centre every Tuesday morning.  At Kaitao Intermediate we attend the school assemblies, interact with the mainstream tamariki at interval and lunchtime, and learn the school values by attending the Kiwi Can sessions every week.

We have a talented and dedicated team of adults in Room 21 to support the children with their learning . The teacher is Iain Picken (Mr. P.), who is supported by three amazing teacher aides, Delaney, Fiona and Nina.

The Learning is fun, in Room 21!
