News from Sunset Primary

Kia ora Whanau,

Term 4 is upon us and Christmas is around the corner!  Our Topic Study this term is about Kuirau and the Taniwha.  We also have our annual Kapa Haka Festival and Art Exhibtion.  In addition, we will be attending MIGS every Tuesday.

I hope everyone enjoyed their school break!

We had a lovely Afternoon Tea with our beautiful whanau.  Some of our students decided to dress up for the occasion!

Now that we are getting 'some' fine days we have been playing sports with Room 3.

Kapa Haka practices are held at Base School in preparation  of the annual Kapa Haka Festival.

Casey-John's job is to sort out the Recycling.

Souljah is so proud of his work.

Term 3 2017:

Term 3 is upon us; our Topic Study is about Hatupatu and Kurangaituku (Bird Woman).  We look forward to learning all about Hatupatu and the Bird Woman.   We also have our School Production on Thursday 14 September.  We are going to be the ‘Happy Go-lucky fun-loving Clowns’ with lots of tricks up our sleeves.  Every Tuesday we will enjoy more fun and fitness at Flip Out.  As always, we have a very busy term.  Below are just a few activities thus far.

Art - Kerry and Taimarino are using recycled boxes and have glued tiny pine cones and seashells to make cool works of art.  Well done Kerry and Taimarino.

Music with Jono is always cool and lots of fun.  Jono personalizes songs for every student.

Souljah making a pyramid with plastic cups.  Souljah enjoys his own space and loves being creative.

Cooking is a lot of fun and very tasty too!  Yummy!!

Term 2: 2017

For Art, Casey-John, Kerry, Taimarino and Souljah have used a cardboard roll with fringes to paint their 'masterpieces'.

Our Topic Study this term is about Mt Ngongotaha and the Patupaiarehe  (Fairy People).  Casey-John and Taimarino are standing in front of a mural depicting Ihenga and the

Patupaiarehe of Mt Ngongotaha.  Our very own BOT Chairperson, Tony Pope played a major role in this beautiful artwork.

Nikki and the boys enjoying their lunch after swimming at the Aquatic Centre.

Term 1: 2017

Taimarino likes to create amazing pieces of work once he has completed all his class work.

Physical Fitness at MIGS for most of the students!

Making playdough is a lot of fun.

Making delicious scones in the school hall.

We enjoyed an amazing Art session with Cathy using crayons and dye.

Room 9 enjoyed a fun morning at MIGS (Mid Island Gym Sports) with Toni.

Casey-John and Kerry enjoyed using the 'hoops' during Dance.  We listened to a cool instructional song about 'hoops'.

Taimarino enjoyed our 'scarf' song.  So much fun!!
