Term 4, 2017

Kia ora and welcome back to Term 4!

Ruma Rua has lots of fun things planned for this term. This Term we’ll be having our Kapa Haka Festival and Art Expo.

Brooklyn, one of our newer students will be participating for the first time and he’s one star performer!! All participating students have been practising hard and we’re looking forward to seeing you whānau on 22 November at the Harvest Centre. Another exciting event lined up for us is when we showcase all our art and craft.

We’ve made lots of interesting things, including mosaics and take home craft that would make wonderful Christmas gifts for Mum and Dad. We explored many well known art styles by famous artists and were inspired by those themes. You’re welcome to see our handiwork on 29 November at Base School. Besides this we’ve been doing lots of other learning.

Box Work is very popular with us, we love working on our Early Words, Reading and Math skills. Many of us have become better readers. This term our pakiwaitara is, “Kuirau and the Taniwha”.  We have many versions of the story on the Smartboard to make us familiar with the story. We hope to visit Kuirau Park later in the term. This term we have timetabled Horse Riding by Rotorua Riding for the Disabled.

All of us love our horses; Sonic, Coffee, Busta and Weka are the names of our horses. Daz-Ray started horse riding for the first time ever!! Tino pai Daz-Ray. We continue to have Matua Aiden and Jono for our superb music sessions. Soon it will be our much awaited Summer break. Stay safe and happy holidays!
